L’artiste que je vais vous présenter aujourd’hui est un photographe de génie. Avec son milliard d’habitant, la Chine n’a pas toujours été une terre propice à l’expression de l’art, d’où le fait que le pays ne compte pas beaucoup d’artistes de talent.
Je vais pourtant aujourd’hui vous présenter un artiste que je trouve « génial » , LiWei, spécialiste des photos hors du commun. Il est basé à Pekin et a accepté de répondre à quelques questions (Thank you Li Wei)

Could you please introduce yourself , and explain to these French people what is your photo Style?
I’m a contemporary artist, I mainly use photography or sometimes sculptures to express. My photo is merged a lot with performance art element, because before turning into photography, I was a performance artist. You can find a lot of humor, impossible scenes in my images. I want to use the image to show my living situation, to show the dangerous and unstable side of this society.

What do you want to represent with your Photos?
I want to show how the impossible change to the possible.

How did you realize your photography?
I use photoshop actually, but is on the stage of postproduction. I need to use photoshop to remove the wires. I make the real shot because the experience of performance art is the most important element of my works.

Right now, what are you preparing?
I’m preparing some exhibitions in 2013.

You went to France? How was it ?
Yes, this March. My collaboration with Parc de la Villette is quite successful. I made the Buddha series.

Chinese has a bad image for creativity, according to you : the new generation of Chinese artists can
change something?
Why not?
What service you offer ?
I work with art institutions, museums mostly. Sometimes I also work with big companies for advertising.

Un petit mot pour dire que si vous désirez suivre les interventions artistiques de l’artiste, nous l’aidons à constituer une page facebook (facebook est bloqué en Chine) et il nous envoie les dernières updates de ses performances. Dernièrement il voyage énormément en Europe pour y faire des performances (Sète – Paris – Alicante – Milan – Amsterdam pour les dernières villes) et à chaque fois on essaye de réunir des photos « behind the scene » qui expliquent en image sa manière de travailler.
